Handling broken Facebook embeds on mobile
Last updated:
As of October 2024, embedded Facebook posts and pages are not displaying on mobile devices. This issue, reported by many developers, is due to an error on Facebook’s side. Facebook has retired its bug-tracking system, but you can follow updates and discussions about this issue on their community thread.
While we hope Facebook resolves this soon, Iframely offers a solution to avoid blank spaces on your site in the meantime.
Iframely can replace broken Facebook embeds on mobile with a summary card. This ensures your website doesn’t display blank areas but instead shows a fallback with key information from the original post or page.
How to enable it:
1. Open your Iframely settings.
2. Go to "Fine-tune providers".
3. Check the box for: "For Facebook, replace broken posts and pages on mobile with an Iframely card" and save changes.
That’s it! Instead of broken Facebook posts and videos, your mobile users will see an Iframely summary card preview.
We'll keep an eye on this issue. When Facebook fixes this issue, we will undo the feature flag and enable the original Facebook posts and videos on mobile devices.
