Restricting explicit content in Iframely
Iframely gives you tools to manage and block explicit content when embedding media. Here’s how you can control what content is allowed through your Iframely setup.
Using an ignore list
You can create an ignore list of specific domains or even wildcards to block content. For example, to block any domain containing the word "explicit," you can add *explicit*
to your ignore list. You can configure these settings directly in your provider settings here.

Using metadata to filter content
You can also filter content on your side by analyzing metadata and applying tag-based rules. Iframely uses an internal no_nsfw
feature flag that does this. This feature is used on our public account to block content - it applies a simplistic filter based on keywords and publisher sources. For example, it blocks keywords like "sex" in page titles, removes anonymous content from publishers such as Imgur and Dailymotion, and also blocks image servers of Reddit and Tumblr. This filtering mechanism is the only way we can ensure public access while maintaining content safety.
While this filter works well for preventing unwanted traffic and maintaining safe public access, it may be too restrictive for some users.
Activating the filter for your account
If you'd like to apply this feature to your account, we can enable the no_nsfw
filter for you. Keep in mind that this filter is strict and may block more than just explicit content.
