Adjust rich media in your posts with more/less

With more/less toggle, your authors may choose different embeds codes for number of publishers.

Iframely lets you configure number of providers individually, just for your account and just the way you need. Most common ones are simple checkboxes in your API settings, whereas many of other less common adjustments can be done quickly by our support team upon your request.

In addition to setting preferences for your account, your end-users may toggle some embedding settings for individual URL to get exact variant they need for their specific post. Say,

Less

More

It is done by adding Iframely-specific query-string command direclty inside the URL. This "More/Less" feature is designed primarily for CMS customers who give option for their authors to add embeds via a text editor. The author then can do more/less of embeds details and change the provider's setting for their individual URLs.

If you would like to disable this feature for your users, do so in your settings. Otherwise, let them know how to use it.

Add more/less query-string parameter to your URL

After you get an embed preview for your URL, it is the one that follows account's default settings. If you would like to have another embed's variant for your post, try replacing URL with a slightly different one.

Add this Iframely parameter at the end of your URL itself:

  • ?iframely=more to get a variant with more details in the emebd
  • ?iframely=less to get a variant with less details
  • If URL has ? in it already, add Iframely toggle command with & instead: &iframely=

For example,

  • Vimeo video doesn't have any query-strings yet, so vimeo.com/141567420 will become vimeo.com/141567420?iframely=less.
  • YouTube does have ? in their URLs already, so you need to add Iframely command as & instead: youtube.com/watch?v=R7OxTxAvvLw&iframely=less

More/less toggle basically tries and adds or removes extra details off the rich media that you otherwise would get for your URL.

What your authors can toggle

Post authors can override the following options:

  • Caption on/off inside Instagram posts
  • Twitter include parent message or not
  • Number of tweets in Twitter timelines
  • Plain Facebook video, or a full post with the message
  • Classic horizontal player for SoundCloud or Bandcamp
  • Activate or disable click-to-play for many videos (YouTube, Vimeo, etc) or GIFs (GIF images, or, say, Giphy and Gfycat). Particularly useful if there are many videos in the post
  • Bigger or smaller players for Bandcamp
  • A full or short version of Iframely summary cards

We monitor the use of iframely=more/less toggle and add more providers as people need it. If you need something more quickly, simply let us know.
